Early cancer screening saves lives. Detecting cancer at an early stage can significantly improve treatment outcomes and increase the chances of successful recovery. However, we know that many people face barriers to accessing information about screening, particularly when English is not their first language.
To help address this, Changing Suits has collaborated with Macmillan Cancer Support to share the powerful stories of individuals with lived experience of cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and the impact cancer can have on families and communities.
These real-life stories provide valuable insight, helping people to better understand the importance of early screening, recognise potential concerns, and feel more confident about seeking support and attending appointments.
To ensure these experiences are accessible to a wider audience, we have translated the stories into a range of community languages. They have been shared across local communities, including community venues, places of worship, workplaces, and GP practices, helping to reach people who may otherwise face language or communication barriers.
We believe that lived experience is one of the most effective ways to raise awareness, reduce fear, and encourage informed conversations about cancer screening within our communities.
