Many ethnically diverse communities experience lower levels of engagement with local services, despite often having a greater need for support. In many cases, individuals only seek help when challenges have escalated significantly, making them more complex and difficult to address.
Several factors contribute to this gap in engagement. These include a lack of awareness about available services, as well as cultural stigma that can make individuals hesitant to seek support. At the same time, it has become increasingly clear that service providers and organisations also need support in better understanding the cultural backgrounds, values, and lived experiences of the communities they serve.
Changing Suits has partnered with a range of local and national organisations to address these challenges. Through our work, we aim to raise awareness of available services, break down barriers between communities and providers, and foster meaningful engagement—particularly within South Asian communities.
